The Security Engineer is responsible for the implementation and day-to-day operations of the security solutions along with the identification, investigation and resolution of security breaches and/or vulnerabilities detected by those systems. The Security Engineer will help ensure that security is integrated into the organization’s product infrastructure by identifying and/or developing security specific policies and procedures related to the organization’s information assets such as networks, data, hardware, and software.
Implement and maintain security tools, appliances, and documents 60%
Monitor and investigate potential vulnerabilities via CIRT, vendors, and security lists 20%
Coordinate activities and status with VZ Telematics RISC team 10%
Coordinate the evaluation of security solutions and products 10%
The employee will work with various teams to implement security tools while ensuring tools do not adversely affect those teams. The employee will also need to evaluate potential vulnerabilities as reported by VZ CIRT or other sources.
Evaluate and implement code scanning tool that works with existing development process
Identify vulnerabilites reported by VZ CIRT and determine their relevancy to Networkfleet.
Employee will work closely with other teams to ensure security tools function properly and do not adversly affect day to day operations. Employee will develop policies and procedures with input from other teams but will ultimately own the process.
Evaluate IDS rulesets and adjust for false positives or missed criteria.
Integrate security tools into Splunk for enchanced reporting.
This job requires knowledge in the configuration, tuning, and architecture of firewalls, IDS, and IPS. This employee will interact with SMEs across various teams within Networkfleet and Verizon. This employee should also be proficient at creating technical documentation.
Education Required: BS
Experience: 2-4 years of related experience
