• Many electronic processes involve the transmission of documents that contain personal or confidential information. The information age has given way to the information privacy age where protection of electronic information is required by laws from Gramm-Leach-Bliley to HIPAA to non-disclosure agreements for most business-to-business communications. There are two aspects of electronic processes that are affected by privacy: • Access to electronic systems – where systems are being used to hold, present or sign electronic documents, access must be restricted to authorized users only and are sufficiently protected.
