Egypt Trust in Cairo ICT 2008 (24-27 February 2008)

"What we all know as Security� is now changing"

As Egypt Trust participated into the Cairo ICT 2008 Exhibition and as per the new slogan of the Fair "What we know as � Is now changing", the understanding of Digital Signature is considered to be the new emerging change in technology in the upcoming years in Egypt . Digital Signature was made clear to the visitors of the Exhibition. At the opening ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Tarek Kamel, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has visited ET booth in order to understand more about Egypt Trust and the progress of implementing digital signatures in Egypt . Other VIPs have visited then booth to get more into the details of digital signature and security solutions.

Egypt Trust has exhibited an idea of a new ADSM machine (Automatic Digital Signature Machine) which was used for demonstrating the usage of digital signature through a smart card or a USB Smart Token. The idea behind that machine is to be placed in any public area or place (e.g. Egypt Post Offices, Clubs, � etc.) to facilitate to end-users, who do not have access to a PC, Internet or to a smart card reader, the digital signature usage and process.

More and more people from all over the world have come to the booth of Egypt Trust (which was part of the Global Egypt Post Booth) in order to either understand the idea of using digital signature in Egypt (under the law), in general or in their corresponding entities or to explore the new changing and emerging technology of digital signature.

Statistics of the visitors showed the following results:

  • In addition to HE Dr. Tarek Kamel, The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, HE Dr. Ahmed Darwish, Minister of State for Administrative Development, HE Dr. Yousri el Gamal, the Minister of Education, HE Dr. Aly Meselhy, the Minister of Social Welfare, and Eng. Alaa Fahmy, Chairman of Egvpt Post, visited the ET booth. Other VIPs as the Assistants of the Minister of Interiors for the Computer Center , National ID, Civil Status Organization and Passports were present. Moreover, several strategic and potential customers such as Egypt Post, Telecom Egypt, GiroNil, Microsoft, Armed Forces, Dr. Motassem El Kaddah, Khorafi, ITIDA, and other International companies such as a Troop from the Netherlands, Tanzania, the Foreign Minister of Algeria, � etc were interested in understanding more about Digital Signature.
  • More than 200 interested end-users, customers and suppliers, out of which over 90 who filled out questionnaires and are interested in getting more information about digital signature, E-signature law in Egypt, VeriSign Inc., Code signing and other security products, services and solutions offered by Egypt Trust.

The location of the Egypt Trust Booth, being part of the Egypt Post booth, had a more strategic importance and explored benefits to the fair's end-users and customers. In addition, Egypt Trust has set up a variety of awareness sessions in the nearby stage of Egypt Post (in conjunction with the contests that took place) to the visitors about ET history and about the understanding of digital signature. In addition, Egypt Trust has sponsored the gifts of the contests from the post.

In the closing session of the ICT Fair, Eng. Yahia El Atfy, ET Chairman, talked about the understanding and the importance of digital signature in addition to integration of the National ID and the PKI smart cards (an all-in-one solution).
